There is limited funding available and so a a priority system is in place to ensure that those that need it most receive the funding.
For example a property that is partly insulated and already has gas central heating is lower in the priority list than a family that heat their home with electric heaters with no insulation.
For example a property with little or no insulation, currently using electricity or solid fuel, who have no central heating system or an energy performance certificate (EPC) of E or lower will have a higher priority over a property that is already insulated with gas central heating or has an EPC rating of a D or above.
Remember that the criteria changes regularly and can also differ between local authorities.
